Students at Locust Elementary and Grant Intermediate made Valentine Cards for our senior citizens who are in nursing homes. This program is sponsored by Senators Syverson and Wilcox. We will be bringing Valentines to our local residents of Florence Nursing Home in Marengo
Third grade students meet with their Preschool in buddies once a month to complete an activity. Mrs. Metras 's 3rd grade students paired up with Mrs. Rogers PM Preschool students to decorate pajamas in anticipation of Pajama Day on January 30th. The 3rd grade students do a great job helping their buddies not only do their activity, but also help get them bundled up to go home.

Locust School is fueling up for the Boosterthon. This year's theme is Star Quest. Be on the lookout for information to be coming home soon.
Students who exhibited positive behavior during the month of December were rewarded with a special lunch and dance party.
A huge shout out and thank you to Regal Rexnord--a local manufacturer here in Marengo--who donated $5,000 to our STEM program! This is the second year they have been so generous. Brent Moynihan, plant manager, is looking forward to partnering with the school district to arrange for some plant visits for our middle school students. Thank you !!!
Preschool through third grade Locust students had an amazing day on Friday for International Day! This is a long standing tradition at Locust to help bring experiences to our students to celebrate some of the different holidays around the world. Each grade level focuses on a different continent, thus eventually our students get to 'travel' around the world!
3rd grade at Museum of Science and Industry
Locust first grade travelled to the Burpee Museum in Rockford on Thursday, Nov. 20th to culminate their unit on Native Americans. Students were able to sit in a wigwam, make a clay pinch pot and learn so many more interesting facts! It was a busy but great day!

October's PBIS reward was Glow in the Dark Day. This reward is always a favorite way to celebrate Locust students' positive behavior! A special thank you to CEPTA for providing the glow sticks.

Such a fun night at Locust Fall Fest! A big big thank you to all the families, students and staff who donate their time and efforts to make this happen! Families were able to have fun as they walked through a spooky bus, bravely made their way though the haunted hallway and of course, all of our wonderful families who set up the best trunks for trunk or treating!
