On Feb. 25th students from Riley, Zion, Marengo Community Middle School and the High school gathered together to perform together Frenzy and Mechanical Monsters. Over 150 band students were present!

6th grade Technology this week finished their Robot Light Shows! They wrote programs for the Sphero robots to move and flash along with music.

Students at MCMS made Valentine
cards to share with our senior citizens who are in nursing homes. This is a program sponsored by Senators Syverson and Wilcox. We will also be bringing some of these Valentines to our local residents at Florence Nursing Home.

7th grade STEM students designed castles with working drawbridges, porticulis, battlements, moats, turrets and catapults. When finished they got to "attack" other castles.

Over the last 2 weeks our 8th grade Technology students have worked hard on modifying and programming our VEX robots. The students wrote code to use a color sensor to determine which blocks to retrieve and which to ignore. Some even modified the design to get extra speed using gears! Our last day we even did an in-class competition!

18 students participated in Harvard Jr. High Honor band this past Saturday with Cambridge Lakes, Genoa-Kingston, and Fontana schools!






8th graders learned about physical and chemical properties and how these can help with identification of known and unknown substances with Mrs. Adams. The favorite chemical reactions involved color changes and production of bubbles!






Band students enjoyed playing the National Anthem at the Ice Hogs Game this evening!

A huge shout out and thank you to Regal Rexnord--a local manufacturer here in Marengo--who donated $5,000 to our STEM program! This is the second year they have been so generous. Brent Moynihan, plant manager, is looking forward to partnering with the school district to arrange for some plant visits for our middle school students. Thank you !!!
