September was Disaster preparedness month. I obtained Prepare with Padro (a penguin) activity books through FEMA, for the third grade students. The books are a publication created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Individual and Community Preparedness Division, and Region 5 office in partnership with the American Red Cross. The activity book is designed to teach young children, and their families, about how to stay safe during disasters and emergencies.
The books were distributed to third grade teachers, and Mrs Leon's ESL class, for introduction into their plans when convenient. Mrs Leon was given English and Spanish versions of the activity book.
