The first day of school is a time for new beginnings, and at District 165, we began the year by coming together to honor our country and the values that unite us.
Students and staff gathered for the raising of the American flag and joined together in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, creating a meaningful moment of reflection and pride as we started a new school year.
Leading our students in the Pledge was retired Staff Sergeant Bruce Rucker, who also serves District 165 as our Technology Director. Drawing on his experience of service to our country, Mr. Rucker spoke with students about the importance of honoring the American flag and what it represents.
The ceremony provided our students with an opportunity to reflect on the values of service, respect, responsibility, and citizenship. It was a fitting way to begin the school year—together as a school community and with gratitude for those who have served our country.
We are proud to continue this District 165 tradition and look forward to a wonderful school year ahead.
