Congratulations to those students who participated in Marengo’s 5th annual solo/ensemble contest. Out of the 13 middle school groups that went 9 received a Division 1 (the highest score you can receive) while 4 groups received a Division 2. I’m so proud of the work that they have put into their performances. I would also like to congratulate Wes C., Will C., Jade C., Jessica E., Luke K., Nathan K., Keilee K., Aiden M., Melany P., Rayne P., Aspen R., Eddie S., Nick W., and Zach W. as they prepare to move on to high school. Many of them have been leaders in their sections this year and have done a lot to help push the band to new heights. We look forward to seeing you succeed in high school!

We are also starting to prepare for our trip to Six Flags which is scheduled for Friday, May 10th. We are leaving at 10 am to perform at Johnsburg High school and then will be spending the rest of the day at Six Flags Great America until 7 pm. Our Spring Concert is scheduled for Tuesday, May 14th at 7pm in the auditorium. We will play our songs from Six Flags plus some movie favorites. We hope you can make it! Finally, the band will be playing at 8th grade graduation which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th at 7 pm. We will be playing the Star Spangled Banner while the 8th graders will be featured with a special piece. Those students that are not 8th graders can leave as soon as we are finished playing. This will be the final performance of the 2017/2018 school year.

If you have any questions about our band program feel free to email me at or give me a call at 815-568-5720 ext. 330. As you’re doing spring cleaning if you have any instruments lying around your house we are more than willing to accept instrument donations as well and as always thank you for supporting our music program here in Marengo!
